Principle of High Magic 273
Because others mostly live for the acceptance of people around them, they open their lives up to being influenced at the subtle levels by the feelings being projected at them. This has to be taken into consideration by the master in two progressive steps: (1) To search for the good in others, so that we may encourage its fuller expression. (2) To realize that any judgment we have of another, whether good or bad, imposes our influence on another. Broadly speaking, this is a form of black magic. Therefore, we simply observe the way others express without any judgment. Staying neutral by having the knowledge that from our limited perspective we cannot see that what may appear as negative, serves a purpose in the grand scheme of things; the way the shedding of autumn leaves may be a way of preparing the barren tree for great things to come.
